HIGH PERFORMANCE AGE CLASSIFICATION
The USAV Beach High Performance age-group classifications are consistent with those established by the FIVB (Federation Internationale de Volleyball) the international governing body for beach, indoor, and sitting volleyball. These age-group classifications govern international competition and all levels of Beach HP programs. Please note that these age-group classifications differ from USA Volleyball Junior Club and Junior Beach Tour age definitions and also from grade classifications of U.S. school systems.
USAV Beach High Performance works on a two-year cycle. Athletes remain in an age group for two years (one year they are the younger year and one year they are the older year), then move up to the next age group at the beginning of the next year to start a new cycle. Athletes may only try out and play in their own age group – there is no "playing up."
